Luke 19 and John 12: The Urgency of Jesus

If you are anything like me at all the gospel often times tends to take a back-burner on my priority list. Whether it be kids, job, or netflix we tend to not soak ourselves in the gospel the way we should. I think often how I haven't proclaimed the name of Jesus nearly as much as I should. Jesus shows a great bit of urgency in these chapters.

As Jesus weeps over Jerusalem He proclaims that even they have their peace now because of their wayward spirit that they will see their city leveled. The urgency is to turn away from that waywardness.

Jesus then proclaims in John 12 how we have a very short time with the light in our lives:

35 So Jesus said to them, “The light is among you for a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, lest darkness overtake you. The one who walks in the darkness does not know where he is going. 36 While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become sons of light.”

This line gives me chills every-time I hear it. Its so utterly poetic and yet the urgency to rest in the light is so powerful. When reading through these chapters its abundantly clear that the Son of God has come to save the world. Now its our turn to help God in that mission. Show some light off.
