The Journey Begins

So our journey begins. And it begins just as any journey begins, with a goal to reach.

Our goal is to read through the Bible story in 2014.

We will be using the Story Reading Plan which will take us through the 6 acts of God's story - Beauty, Tragedy, Struggle, Rescue, Mission, and Restoration.

We will not be reading every word of the Bible this year, however, by the end of the year, you will know and understand the entire story-line of the Bible!

Maybe you are reading this now and are thinking that, while the goal of reading the Story this year sounds great, that's a LOT of reading. I mean, the whole story? I don't know about this...

Take it from a slow reader, Bible reading plans can be intimidating. What was originally meant to be a thing to bring me closer to God can quickly devolve into something that seems to be just a lot of work. It can quickly be overwhelming!

But I want you to know, this is NOT going to be a 2 hour a day reading marathon! We will be taking a slower approach to reading through the Bible to allow for time to soak in the story. So not a 2 hours a day kind of thing, more like 2 chapters a day with a day off each week!

Why this blog?
We are taking this journey not as individuals but as a community. We are in this thing together.

Everyday as you read from the Story Reading Plan you can come here and see a blog post written by someone in our community about what you just read.

The writers on this blog will be sharing with you their personal experiences of what God is teaching them, how it is affecting their life, or maybe how they are wrestling with something they don't understand. In essence, they will be sharing their journey with you.

So what now?
The first day of the Story Reading Plan is on Monday, January 6th. Now is a great time to join us in our journey through the Story. You can download the first Story Reading Plan bookmark here:  http://storage.cloversites.com/reddoorchurch/documents/TheStory_BookMark_JOURNEY1.pdf
