God appears to Moses. Pause. Not fair! It isn't that Moses has a inkling or a "feeling" or the "spiritual shivers" that God is present and speaking to him. He appears. Right there. He gives Moses instructions to set His people free. Clear. Instructions. NOT FAIR! Is my faith so small that I struggle to audibly hear the voice of God or the whispers of the Holy Spirit?I love how Moses tells God, "Hey, so HOW will these people know that I am telling the truth? And WHY will they listen to me?"
And God -- maybe with a chuckle, maybe with an eye-ball roll, maybe with authority -- "Because. I AM."
Soak that up Mo. Because God says go and tell. That's why. Not only are you standing barefoot talking to a burning bush, but you are talking to the Living and Present Creator of the universe and He is giving you a clear path to set His people free. Just do it. And God will take care of the rest.
And Moses... like us all... needs more. More signs and confirmation that he hasn't gone completely loco (because the bush and talking isn't enough). And God, so creative, gives him signs (Exodus 4:1-9).
And Moses... STILL doesn't have the confidence in himself that God clearly does (don't worry Mo, I'm insecure too). So -- the Bible clearly says, God. Gets. Angry. Don't want to do it yourself Moses? Won't do what I'm asking? Choosing to blatantly ignore God? Then he will use your brother. God's Will stretches far beyond Moses. His people will be removed from the grips of the Egyptians. Regardless of who speaks to them.
Are you willing? Are you listening? Are you making excuses? Are you willing to be uncomfortable? What will it take?
I feel like I'm having a familiar conversation with you, B. I like reading your posts.
