The Beginning. The Separation

Throughout our journey this year we will have occasional guest blogging on Sundays. The guest bloggers will be sharing a little about their experience just as the regular bloggers have been and will continue to do throughout the year.

This week as we read through the story of creation I was struck anew by the depth of the tragedy that follows in the story.

The picture painted in Genesis and in the Psalms is beautiful and yet so different than what we are experiencing today. Dwelling on the beauty that once was and for which we were created only illuminates the imperfection caused by the tragedy that follows all the more.

Dwelling on the beauty of creation this week caused praise to break forth from my lips and the tragedy that follows has broken my heart all over again.

My heart breaks as I realize that when I justify the sin I commit I too question the goodness of God just as Adam and Eve did. I too look at the tree and see that the fruit is desirable and believe that I should have it.

Yet my heart fills with joy when I think of the One who was with God from the beginning. The One through Whom all things were created. The One that will someday crush the head of the serpent. The One who will make all things right again.

Some of you know that I have a bit of an affinity for fine metal music. However, what I want to share with you today is not metal. It's a poem performed by spoken word artist Levi the Poet.

This poem paints both a beautiful and haunting picture of the story of beauty and tragedy that we find in the beginning of the Story. I hope that you find it as impactful for you as I have this past week.
