Genesis 46-47: Into Egypt

I read these chapters and can’t help but be excited for Joseph and his family. Yes they hit hard times. Really hard times. Yes there was famine. Yes there was betrayal and prison and death and lies and sin, sin, and more sin.
But we get the perfect seat. We know God. And if you are just journeying through scripture for the first time YOU are learning about God’s character. It’s only the first book of the bible and we know so much about God.
Here’s what we know… he is an artist, he is just, he is kind, he is provider, and lover, and planner. He is Good. Amen?
He told Abraham that he would be given decedents – a nation that out numbers the sands and stars. And now, FINALLY, prosperity is upon his family and they are able to grow and multiply. Pharaoh grants Joe’s family great land in Egypt. And Joseph sustains a whole nation during a famine through the wisdom and promise that God gave him. God's promise is beginning to be fulfilled.

As we close out Genesis tomorrow, we will have moved from Beauty, through the Fall, and into the Struggle. A Struggle that will remain for a really really long time. But God is faithful. In the Struggle. In the hard and bad. Our God is Faithful.
