So these two chapters are kinda self explanatory. Here we go...Nehemiah gets permission from Artaxerxes (the king to which he's a cupbearer) to leave for a time to go rebuild the temple. He gathers his people, and heads out. They survey the land... taking in the job. And then when the time comes, he mobilizes groups of families and friends to start rebuilding the wall.
I like Nehemiah.
He was sensitive to the calling God placed in his heart. He was faithful and loyal to his friends. He was a motivator. He didn't act rashly. He prayed vigilantly and purposefully. And he was a hard worker. He was steadfast. That's pretty much the kind of guy you need when it comes to rebuilding a wall brick by brick.
Are you listening to the calling God has placed on your heart? Often times when God gives us a burden for something, he makes us part of the solution. But the solution often times takes a person like Nehemiah. May we begin to examine our hearts and our lives and be in tune with the how the Holy Spirit is moving in our lives.
