Haggai 1-2: It is Time

Where are your priorities?

I could just end the blog here, and you'd probably have enough to chew on for days. We all go through times of mixed priorities. Times where our perspective is skewed and we believe lies and live out selfishness. But here's the deal -- when we put the Kingdom first, we will be most satisfied. When we listen for God's voice and will in our lives, when we live out the Word, we will experience the fullness of all God has for us.

And basically that's what God says to the Jews through Haggai. It is time. It is time for you to quit procrastinating. It is time for you to re-prioritize. Put aside your worldly desires and build my temple.

And get this! Even though the Jews where all over the map and not living in God's will, once they got their act in order -- HE BLESSES THEM! What?!? He blesses them. But they hadn't been doing what they were suppose to for like 14 years, and they get off on the right foot and God blesses them. What a gracious God we serve, my friends.

So what are your excuses for not living out the calling God has given you? Allow me to number a few so we can all laugh together at how ridiculous they look in light of the life God's promises...
I'll tithe once I pay off student loans (or a mortgage, or car payment, etc).
I'll serve my neighbors once the kids are in school.
I'll have an intentional time in the Word once I'm less tired.
I'll pray more when I'm less stressed.
I'll serve on a team when I'm less busy.
I'll go on a missions trip once the kids are grown.
I'll sacrifice my time when my life is less busy.

You see, life everlasting is waiting for you. Abundant, dripping, fulfilling life is freely offered to you. Re-prioritize with me. Live out the calling God has given you. I'll leave you with the wise words of John Piper:

God is most glorified in us, when we are most satisfied in him.
