Esther 6-7: Forever His

In Esther 6, we see Mordecai given an extremely high honor from the king (and a lovely foreshadow if I may add). But he never asked for it. Heck, turmoil surrounded him... living through another day seemed to be an accomplishment. He was humble through it all. He clearly trusted God throughout this entire journey. Though God wasn't directly speaking (at least, we don't see it written), Mordecai seeks out little attention for saving the king's life... but is given a celebration and great recognition.

And also in Esther 6 we see a glimpse of the effects of God's promises and provision for his people.

"You must be very careful with how you handle Mordecai! If he really is a Jew, a descendant of the nation that defeated your ancestors, then you won’t be able to succeed. In fact, you will most certainly be destroyed! Look, you’ve already begun to bow to him.

It's been a long time (generations and generations) since God named the Israelites his people. They have defeated many nations, wandered a lot, caused a ton of ruckus... basically -- they're known. God is known. Don't rise up against them... that's a death wish.

I love that God has been so thickly present throughout history that the people (even the enemies) fear Him. They know he is for his people. He has brought them through slavery and wandering and all sorts of crazy things.

And it is because of Christ that we are grafted into those promises. We are his sons and daughters.
We know that God is for us. That's huge. I'm forever thankful.
