Hiding from
Saul, David continues to praise God and knows that his life is resting in the
One who created it.
While
thinking through these passages, my dear friend Sarah brought up a really
really great point… How can David still praise God so fervently and beautifully
when there has been no Jesus? Because of Jesus, we know God – who he is – we
know he means business when he says I
love you. What faith David has in God while he is in darkness and facing a
terrifying situation. I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t be a very good pre-Jesus
Christian. God was faithful through Israel and he dearly loved his people… but
it wasn’t until Jesus defeated the grave that everyone could rid the little
words in the back of their minds asking questions.
I hope that
by reading this part of Psalm 57 we can allow David’s words to resonate in our
souls. May we rest in the truth of God’s Words. May we praise God as David
praised God.
Yet my foes cast a net to catch my feet and bring me to my knees.
I am weary from all of this.
They dug a pit to snare me
but fell into their own trap.
I am weary from all of this.
They dug a pit to snare me
but fell into their own trap.

My heart is
ready, O God;
my heart is ready,
And I will sing!
Yes, I will sing praise!
Wake up, my glory!
Wake up, harp and lyre;
I will stir the sleepy dawn with praise!
I will offer You my thanks, O Lord, before the nations of the world;
I will sing of Your greatness no matter where I am.
For Your amazing mercy ascends far into the heavens;
Your truth rises above the clouds.
my heart is ready,
And I will sing!
Yes, I will sing praise!
Wake up, my glory!
Wake up, harp and lyre;
I will stir the sleepy dawn with praise!
I will offer You my thanks, O Lord, before the nations of the world;
I will sing of Your greatness no matter where I am.
For Your amazing mercy ascends far into the heavens;
Your truth rises above the clouds.
O God, be
lifted up above the heavens;
may Your glory cover the earth.
may Your glory cover the earth.
