Ecclesiastes 1-2: Abundant Life

What is the meaning of life? What is important? Where do you find your satisfaction? Where do you find your identity? What are you pouring yourself into?
I feel like many of these questions we have been tackling together in our D-Groups as we went through the Identity series and now as we go through the Christian series. Have you given yourself the opportunity to answer these questions truthfully and in great detail?
It’s so incredibly easy to find ourselves wrapped up in the world around us, just as Solomon did. It’s our sinful nature that leads us to a horizontal mindset rather than a vertical one. Our world tells us that searching for money and knowledge and relationships and satisfaction in our job is what life is all about. As Christians we find ourselves in a battle with our very beings. If I can only be sporty cute mama, or cutting edge entrepreneur, or hipster…, or brilliant, beautiful, brilliant&beautiful….
We will run ourselves dead.
But Christ. Even though this was not for Solomon this IS for us now. Christ. He came to give us life abundantly. Real life. Real breath. Real joy. Real relationship. Realness.
These things we struggle with – a great job, beauty, money, recognition… it will all die. They will end. YOU WILL GET WRINKLES! But Jesus. He came to give us life everlasting and to pursue him and his Kingdom will bring forth real life.

In what or where do you find your identity? What are you pursuing? If your gradification is found in anything other than your relationship with Jesus Christ as a child of His, then I beg you to reevaluate and find life.
