2 Samuel 13-14: Generations of Consequences

2 Samuel 13-14
The consequences of David’s sin are clearly and graphically played out in the life of Tamar. Often times we only think of our sins as only directly affecting our lives (or perhaps only those extremely close to us). How selfish we are to continue in sin and neglect that in our utmost selfishness those around us are just as hurt.
More so, sin runs deep. God told David that his family would struggle because of the sin he committed with Bathsheba. Unfortunately, Tamar, raped by her half-brother, became of victim of the consequences of David’s sin. I sincerely hope that through this tragic story, we are most aware of the consequences of sin in our own lives, how our sin directly affects the people closest to us, and even in generations that follow.

Jesus came to express the deepest of love. To die so that we could live free of bondage. Cast your chains. What’s holding you back? His Grace is deeper and stronger than that which hinders us from freedom.
