Exodus:23-25: Promises, Promises, Promises

The thing I enjoy about the chapters throughout Exodus is they are so full of promises. God lays out his cards before Israel letting him know they have so much ahead of them. He lays out how he'll deliver the land of Canaan to them. He highlights the building of the temple and gives them so much hope in his Promise.

However I love that God also asks something of His people as well. He ask for their worship and their trust in his plan.

You see Gods promises can often seem so grand, so huge that none could possibly believe that he would actually deliver on these grand narratives. But He did and does.

I dream with the best of them and always seem to love hearing promises of grand exposition. I have also seen so many dreams fall short in my own life and in other. The thing I find so both unnerving and beautiful is Gods promises are kept.

Yes thats right His promises are kept and it freaks me out.  God has a tendency to keep His promises in ways I never expect them to be kept. As I type this, my new wife(woot! woot!) lays asleep next to me. If there was ever a promise in my life that God fulfilled that I never expected to be fulfilled the way it was its in KT. The beauty is God simply asks from us now to worship Him in our marriage and to trust in His plan once again.

I'd imagine some 3,000 years ago that the people of Israel felt much the same way that we often do when we look at Gods Promises. It all sounds beautiful but is it really real? God will continue to show Israel that it is real (though they do their best to screw it up) and He will always supply exactly what they require and need.
