Then comes a moment that always just catches me off guard. After his sons are killed it simply says "Aaron held his peace". There are certain times within the biblical narrative that I'm dumbfounded by the human nature presented. I fairly certain Aaron is shock here over his children being consumed by fire. I think Aaron's shock is mixed in with his servanthood towards his creator.
This store is of course a spring board for God laying out the law for the priest in the tabernacle as they carry out their duties. This is something that is once again pointing back to the incorruptible purity of God. God will not allow his glory to be diminished by anything.
Chapter 11 gets into the meat and potatoes (pun intended) of what the israelites can and cannot eat. The most interesting thing to me about this chapter is that most of the foods highlighted for consumption are still some of our main foods we lean towards today. Minus the whole locusts thing cause I only get the itch to eat locust very rarely (wink wink). Seriously though even though I don't quite understand entirely why all these foods are picked over others, it is certainly interesting to see God laying out what is clean and unclean to eat.
