Exodus 39-40: Bling and Commitment: The Israelites come around

Following the golden calf fiasco the Israelites are left to start to rebuild their commitment to God that pulled them from slavery. The chapters begin by describing the construction of the holy robes which is basically made of every beautiful thing you can imagine. All of that is pretty cool but the most important thing to pull from this chapter is in verse 32 when it says "Thus all the work of the tabernacle of the tent of meeting was finished, and the people of Israel did according to all that the Lord had commanded Moses; so they did."

The people of Israel were finally doing the things that Moses had asked of them and building a place for Gods dwelling among them. The tabernacle is symbol in many ways of Israel placing their faith back in God instead of the Idols. This of course is a reflection back upon Moses who has faithfully lead Gods people through the desert. Chapter 40 goes so far as to say "This Moses did; according to all that the Lord commanded him, so he did." This shows how Moses faithfulness is many ways fulfilled and his work finished as the complete the tabernacle to glorify God.

Now lets just marvel for a second at the end of Chapter 40. As God fills the tabernacle Among His people. This is of course is significant as the first place mentioned the is completely dedicated to His dwelling, called a "tent of meeting" as it is the place where God meets His people. Powerful stuff and beautiful in the reflection upon that of what Christ was able to give us in His death. God no longer needed a place of meeting as we are now met wherever we are.

One last note. Can you imagine having to disassemble and rebuild this complex structure wherever you were setting up camp if you were the israelites. Dang. Thats is all.
