James 1 & 2

I have heard before that the book of James is the Proverbs of the New Testament. It is full of wisdom and practical advice. And these two chapters do not disappoint. There is so much here... so much to glean. One section in particular stuck out to me:

16 My dearly loved brothers and sisters, don’t be misled. 17 Every good gift bestowed, every perfect gift received comes to us from above, courtesy of the Father of lights. He is consistent. He won’t change His mind or play tricks in the shadows. 18 We have a special role in His plan. He calls us to life by His message of truth so that we will show the rest of His creatures His goodness and love. (The Voice)

I think what stuck out to me was just how good God is to us. Every thing good that happens to us is because of his goodness and love. Not only is He good, he also has given us a special role. We are to show the rest of creation His goodness. His message of truth transforms us so that we can help others experience His goodness.

We can't keep the goodness to ourselves. It is a gift that is meant to be shared. How can you share God's goodness and love this week with your family, co-workers, friends, and/or neighbors?
